Ever since its inception, the Secretariat has been the brain behind NASMUN. They are overall in-charge of the conference and are responsible for planning, training and running the entire MUN. It comprises the Secretary-General and 2 Deputy Secretary-Generals; each supervising the academic and administrative sectors respectively. The Secretariat for NASMUN 2021 warmly welcomes new and returning delegates to this year’s conference! :)

Ganzon Leia Plaza
Secretary-General
Leia is the Secretary-General for NASMUN 2021. She has been in two NASMUNs, 2019 and 2020 and with a two year streak for Best Council Resolution Paper. In addition, she will be participating in RVMUN 2021 this year (and is pretty excited for it).
She takes a Double Humanities/Double Science subject combination and is frankly very tired. Some things she cares a lot about are fan culture and video games. Joining Aperture Science is one of the things she would do if she could, despite being hopeless in Physics. Leia tries to study a lot and listens to a lot of very good music, like Wilbur Soot, Mitski and The Front Bottoms.
As Secretary-General, she hopes that everyone has an amazing time during the conference! The Secretariat has worked hard to make a fun and engaging conference and hopes all delegates have a good and memorable experience!

Magbitang Callista Ysabelle Acuña
Deputy Secretary-General (Academics), UNICEF Council Chair
Callista is the Deputy Secretary General (Academic) and the council chair for UNICEF for NASMUN 2021. Contrary to what some may think, her first and only MUN experience is the NASMUN 2020 online conference that she attended as a delegate. Despite her lack of experience, she feels honoured to have been given the opportunity to assist in organising this year’s NASMUN.
Callista takes the Triple Science subject combination for some reason, and often forgets to sleep. Her hobbies include listening to Vocaloid songs and bawling over fictional characters at 2am. Occasionally, she makes poor financial decisions by impulse spending her savings (and her friends’ donations) on gacha games whenever she unfortunately doesn’t get the character she wants. She also raises an incomprehensible amount of plants in her house that she forgets to water until they start to wilt.
Make sure to assist her in her gacha rituals, no matter how good or bad your luck is. Upon successfully summoning a character she wants, point at all the plants you like and she will gladly eat them. Please regularly advise her against eating random plants she thinks would taste delicious. They aren’t.
For this year’s NASMUN, she hopes that every participant will be able to have a fun and memorable experience, while also displaying the fruits of their research during the conference. Additionally, she wishes that everyone will be able to forge new friendships and that new participants will be able to gain exposure to the different stages of MUN, from research to the conference itself.

Dolot Shine Mikaela Maminta
Deputy Secretary-General (Admin), Press & Admin
As compared to the rest of the organising committee, Shine is actually one of the more inexperienced members. She only participated in one conference, NASMUN 2020, and just as a delegate. But ever since she got thrust into the world of MUN in Sec 1, she has always admired it. Shine is honoured (though nevertheless confused) to inherit the role of Deputy Secretary General (Admin) and be a member of the Press team.
In school, Shine takes one of the Double Humanities combinations, more specifically the one with Pure Physics and Pure Chemistry. Her friends like to tease her for being a stereotypical ‘rock-obsessed’ Core Geography student. To which she has nothing to say because they are absolutely correct. The entire social science is enthralling to Shine and she enjoys identifying geographical phenomena around her from time to time. (Her favourite kind of rock is pumice, by the way!) Aside from Geography, Shine also likes indulging in various media, writing stories, and learning more about the universe we live in. Despite having hobbies that revolve around writing, she is abysmal at language subjects like English and Literature. Unfortunately.
If you are lucky, you can find Shine in the canteen eating, chatting with friends, or drinking peach tea while staring solemnly into the middle distance. Feel free to say hi at this point. She would appreciate the conversation.
In the end, Shine hopes that NASMUN 2021 will be an enriching experience for all. Whether it be through the late nights of researching, the heated debates, or the friendships you forged along the way. As a final note, just remember: if you do not get any awards this year, there is always next time. See you there!

From creating the website to managing the Instagram account, the Press team is in charge of the media and documentation of NASMUN. They are in charge of publicising the conference online and reaching out to the delegates through posts on the Instagram account. This year, they also have the additional role of “chairing” the returning Press Corps committee, which is coming back to NASMUN after last being seen in 2018.

Joachim Mejia Laxa
Press & Admin
Joachim is a Secondary 3 student who has been involved in NASMUN for the past three years. Previously attending NASMUN 2019 and 2020 as a delegate, he is so excited to finally be a part of the organising committee for NASMUN 2021!
Some things Joachim loves to do are cooking, drawing, and sleeping. A lot. Being Secondary 3 definitely taught him the value of getting enough rest. Most importantly, however, he loves to sing! Hailing from the Jam Band CCA, you will definitely hear him belt his heart out in the classrooms and corridors around school. He is easy-going and easy to please, but if there is one thing he absolutely loathes, it’s Math. Trying to make sense of all the weird numbers and random letters just drains the energy right out of him. Having to take both E Math and A Math subjects is probably the worst part of Sec 3 life, in his opinion. (Seriously, why does Math have to be so hard?)
Nonetheless, Joachim is extremely grateful that he was granted a position in the organising committee. He hopes that the entire team’s efforts will make NASMUN 2021 an amazing and enjoyable experience for all. See you there!

Council Chairs
The council chairs have the responsibility of managing the various councils in NASMUN. They are the moderators of the debate: making sure that the General Speakers List is adhered to, that the council is on-topic, and that decorum is maintained by delegates during sessions.

(The biographies of the council chairs can be found on their respective council pages.)
Many thanks to all members of our Organising Committee for taking charge of the conference for us! We would also like to thank our teachers for supporting us through planning and running the event, and our understudies Sze Kay, Catherine, Sonal, Marcus, and Prateek for helping us push through in key areas. All of us are truly grateful for your contributions. Thank you for your efforts in building NASMUN 2021 to what it is now :)
