Secretary-General's Address

Dear Delegates, Chairs, Teachers and Esteemed Guests,

 

It is the Secretariat’s greatest privilege to welcome you all to NASMUN 2021! Ngee Ann Secondary School is honoured to be holding its own Model United Nations for the fifth year in a row. This student-initiated project is truly a product of our love, labour and dedication. On the behalf of the teachers and organising committee, we hope everyone will have a rich and fulfilling experience!

 

NASMUN has always been an avenue for schools in the East Zone area to participate in an event that challenges their language capabilities and their critical thinking skills. It is tailored to train students to analyse problems from many different angles and communicate effectively with their fellow delegates. Our theme this year is ‘Our Words, Our World’, showing the importance of what you say in a rapidly changing world.

 

This is my third year with NASMUN and I am extremely happy to be heading an event I have enjoyed for all my secondary school years. I found every aspect so fun, from research to the quick speeches to the fast flow of information to the funny moments. MUNs have taught me how to be a better speaker and have more confidence in front of a crowd. Personally, I love the camaraderie and bonding you can have amongst a council and I think that is a good experience for everyone to have. 

 

As your Secretary-General for this year’s conference, I would personally like to attest the hard work that has been put into this conference, from the teachers to my Deputy-Secretary Generals, Council Chairs and everyone who had contributed to the planning and execution of this event. We have put together a fun and challenging MUN and hope that delegates will also enjoy what we have in store for them. We look forward to seeing you there!
